Dr Marlene Kong
Dr Marlene Kong (indigenous cultrual advisor for the GDG)An Aboriginal doctor from the Worimi people of Port Stephens.
She is currently working in Family General Practice in the Whitsunday region of the Queensland Coast. Her career has included 3 years of work with the NSW Ministry of Health, occupying a Commonwealth Specialist Training Program position in 2011-2014 for public health training. She also fulfilled a job with the Kirby Institute for Infection and Immunity in Society, UNSW Medicine. Her job title there was Program Head of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Program overseeing research programs relating to sexually transmitted infections affecting Indigenous communities. Marlene has spent many years also working as a GP across the nation including remote Indigenous communities in Newcastle, Northern Territory, Western Australia and Queensland. Humanitarian work in 2003-04 also took her to South Sudan and Sierra Leone as a doctor without borders with MSF-France.
